The
Saturday AND The Sunday Movie... |
 |
Machete
(Danny Trejo) is a renegade former "Mexican Federale". He roams the
cities, towns, and streets of Texas looking for work after a shakedown
from a drug lord called Torrez (Steven Segal). Machete has a run-in with
Michael Benz (Jeff Fahey), a local businessman and spin doctor, who
tells Machete that McLaughlin (Robert De Niro), a corrupt senator, is
sending hundreds of illegal immigrants out of the country and that he
must be killed. Benz offers Machete $150,000 to kill McLaughlin who
quickly accepts the murder contract out of greed for the money.
Attempting to assassinate the senator at a political rally, Machete is
double-crossed and is shot in the shoulder by Benz's henchmen whom are
soon revealed to be in league with Senator McLaughlin who orchestrated
the entire attempted assassination with Benz as part of a false flag
operation to gain widespread public support for McLaughlin's harsh
anti-immigration laws by setting up Machete as the patsy to make it
appear that an outlaw illegal Mexican immigrant tried to assassinate the
senator. Staring Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven
Seagal and Michelle Rodriguez. Our showing will be SATURDAY at Christown
14 at 2:30 PM |

The
second movie this weekend is on Sunday and is a romantic comedy. It is
called Going the Distance staring Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Charlie
Day, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate, Ron Livingston, and Oliver
Jackson. Jim Gaffigan Phil Garrett (Justin Long) has always had a
problem with commitment and understanding what women want. He seems to
be doing everything right until he learns the hard way that he cannot
speak the female language when his girlfriend drops him. That night, his
friends want to brighten up his spirits by taking him to a bar. He meets
Erin (Drew Barrymore) playing a game and ends up buying her a beer, then
winning at bar trivia, and having breakfast with her the next morning.
Erin is only in New York City for the summer, and will be returning to
grad school in San Francisco in six weeks. They start a
no-strings-attached summer fling relationship that turns into a
seriously meaningful love affair. They realized that they were meant for
each other, but when Erin returns home, will their love survive the
distance, between New York City and San Francisco? Douglas Young
(the-movie-guy) Our showing is Sunday at Tempe Marketplace at 2:20 PM |

In
the Life for September is entitled, "The State of Equality."
It is playing on Channel 8, KAET, Saturday, September 4 2010, 12:00 AM.
President Obama's inauguration marked more than one historic first; our
first Black President is also the first American President to publicly
identify as an ally of the LGBT community. In his two years in office,
Obama has signed presidential memorandums expanding federal benefits to
same-sex partners and extended federal protections to LGBT victims of
hate crimes. But so far, his administration has not fulfilled the change
he promised on key issues like The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), The
Employee Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) and 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell.' In
response to growing frustration, some new LGBT rights groups are using
aggressive tactics to push for full equality. |

This
is Undoubtedly Broadway’s greatest farce! Noises Off
pushes farce as far as it can go, following the onstage and backstage
antics of a fifth rate acting troupe touring in a new, horribly written
sex farce called Nothing On. The curtain opens on the dress rehearsal of
the first act the night before it opens and with things not going well.
In the second act, we hear the first act of Nothing On from backstage as
the wheels start to come off after a month of touring on the road. The
third act takes us to the second month of touring. It is, deliciously
so, a hilarious disaster with each act packed with more laughs than the
one before it! – The New York Times says, "The most dexterously realized
comedy ever…" – New York Post calls it, ""The funniest farce ever
written! Never before has side-splitting taken on a meaning dangerously
close to the non-metaphorically medical." and – New York Post says, "As
side-splitting a farce as I have seen. Ever? Ever." August 25 -
September 12, 2010, Our 90th Mainstage Season opens with Broadway's
greatest farce! |

In space, No one can hear you disco! To open Season 12, Nearly Naked
Theatre presents the Arizona Premiere of Saucy Jack and The Space
Vixens, book by Charlotte Mann, lyrics by Charlotte Mann &
Michael Fidler and music by Jonathan Croose & Robin Forrest. In a
futuristic universe, where everyone is bisexual and Disco has ceased to
be merely a musical form and has achieved religious status, danger lurks
around every corner of a seedy cabaret (and the audience its patrons)
presided over by the alluring and charismatic Saucy Jack. The dreams of
the denizens of this cosmic cafe are as dead as the cabaret acts... that
are being murdered one by one. Then the Space Vixens, intergalactic
super-fashion crime-fighters armed with the Power of Disco, arrive to
remind us that if you believe in yourself and say it out loud… it will
come true. This show is recommended for mature but groovy audiences.
Pre-show starts at 7:30( or half-an-hour before normal performance
time!) August 14th – September 11th, Wonderful 100 Premiere
Performance Friday, August 13th, Thu-Sat at 7:45pm, Sun at
5:45pm or 1:45pm (alternating) |

In the Next
Room (Or, The
Vibrator Play)
Yes. That kind of
vibrator. Nominated
for a Tony Award and
a finalist for the
Pulitzer Prize,
In the Next Room
(Or, The Vibrator
Play) by
Sarah Ruhl is a
comedy about
marriage, intimacy,
and electricity. Set
in the 1880s at the
dawn of the age of
electricity and
based on the bizarre
historical fact that
doctors used
vibrators to treat
'hysterical' women
(and some men), the
play centers on a
doctor and his wife
and how his new
therapy affects
their entire
household. A tender
and elegant new
comedy lit by
unexpected sparks
from the approaching
era of electricity,
equality, science
and sexuality. This
show is a Actor’s
Theatre presentation
at the Herberger
Theater Center
(Stage West) Oct 29
- Nov 14, 2010
